got written up today.
for being 9 minutes late.
nine.
nine minutes. that’s a red light and a slow line at the gas station.
so i ate my lunch in the car. that’s the view up there. parking lot, office buildings, lunch in foil. honestly the car is the only place at work that feels like mine.
somebody asked what i’d say if my company banned ai. honestly? nothing. i shut up and work. it’s almost all big american corps out here and you’re a number to them. somebody told me they hope i don’t stay at a place like that. me too. but you can’t be picky in this job market. the job pays the bills, the bills keep gus fed, and gus is the whole point.
so i keep my mouth shut all day and i build at night.
the other thing this week is reach. mine is not reaching.
my posts get 7 to 20 impressions. that’s it. a guy posted that his reach wasn’t reaching and his post was doing way better than anything i’ve ever put up. i told him the truth. compared to me you’re killing it.
i’m not saying that to be sad about it. it’s just where i’m at. i’m brand new. nobody owes me attention.
i asked another builder how far along he was. he said still far, started with almost nothing, but his thing is live now. that’s more than me. my first app is still 40 files i mostly don’t understand.
then i asked him what his plan was for marketing. because the more i watch people, the more i think distribution is like 90% of the work. building is the fun part. getting anybody to look at it is the job.
i was thinking about warming up a tiktok account. somebody showed me a cool tool for it but it didn’t really fit what i need. still cool. i’ll figure out the tiktok thing later.
for now i do the free stuff. i follow people who are way ahead of me and i study them. what they post, who replies, what they’re selling. it’s like sitting in the back of a class you didn’t pay for. somebody told me i need to follow a certain guy. already do.
that’s the same thing i do on the phones honestly. you listen to the closers, you steal what works, you make it yours.
so that’s today.

i’m going home, i’m taking gus out, and then i’m opening the laptop. 9 minutes late to a job i hate doesn’t matter. showing up every night to the thing i actually want, that’s the part i’m not gonna be late for.
